Yeah. So, the title might be a bit confusing.
Thing is, I haven’t really been into the whole Minecraft thing until recently.
I had only heard about it and seen a few screenshots until about 3 days ago when I watched some videos
of a Minecraft Let’s Play, and I thought: “Hey.. That looks pretty fun after all!”
Long story short, I bought Minecraft about 3 days ago. And it has been consuming my life.
I never realised that this is pretty much one of the games I’ve always been dreaming about.
It lets me create and discover my very own huge world complete with monsters and building anything I want.
Let me just start by saying, I hate you Notch. I really do. But don’t take this wrong.
I only say it because damn, I love your game too much. It’s no wonder how it sold over 1 million copies.
One of the only things that’s really annoying me though is that the daytime is so ridiculously short.
And since I’ve turned down the brightness on my 40″ tv I use as a monitor now, I can’t see shit during night.
(I’ve basically turned down the brightness to not hurt my eyes/head since it’s right in front of my head)
Being a music composer as I am too, I’ve also become very interested in those music blocks in Minecraft.
Seeing how people have managed to make songs with them, I have a very high interest in creating Touhou songs
using the music blocks.
I tried out running the server software a bit while running craploads of applications on my computer too, but I think
that my settings are wrong somewhere since the cpu spikes to 100% and the computer gets really hot.
Therefore I started thinking what server hosting solutions there were. And I found a place offering server hosting
pretty cheap. The lowest setting was for a 512mb ram server with support for 1-6 people for 15$ a month.
Sounds pretty ok I think. Especially if I can have a server running 24/7 for that price.
And that way I could work on the music block song building a lot easier.
Problem however is that the first time I even saw redstone was like yesterday, so I have no clue how to work it
properly yet.
I’d also have to find/generate a completely flat map surface (delicious flat cake world) to be able to focus properly
on the song building and not having to work hours on digging out a proper placement site for blocks.
I’m pretty sure it’d be very easy to create other songs as soon as I’ve made one song actually functional.
Mainly since that’d be a matter of rearranging blocks and just changing block notes. So the initial build is
definitely the hardest.
Also it depends on how advanced the song should be, if it should incorporate a bunch of different instruments
and multiple pitches running at the same time. It’s going to take lots of work and planning. lol
Anyone here who’s had any experience with music block building?
